Music
A selection of occasional compositions and arrangements, most of them quite recent.
Orchestration of Schubert - Allegro in A minor, Op. 144
An arrangement of Schubert’s four-hand piece Allegro in A minor, sometimes called “Lebensstürme,” for an orchestra like the one used in his late symphonies. I began by orchestrating the remarkable plagal second theme, first heard in A-flat, then in C, as a trombone equale and expanded from there, heightening the contrasts between the filigree motivic develop begun in the first theme group, choral dialogues in transitional sections, and lyrical stretches in the second theme group. Begun in March 2020, abandoned soon after, exposition finished in January 2023.
Stretto Fugue a 3 in G minor
A very condensed stretto fugue for three voices in G minor, approximating the style of Bach's Well-Tempered Clavier (albeit scored for string trio). Features all sorts of gratuitous fireworks in uncomfortably little time: some invertible counterpoint at the octave, a two-voice stretto, inversion with the original subject, augmentation with the original subject, and three-voice stretto. Written while moving apartments during June 2022.
